Hello,
I'm Beth Thatcher, founder of Lighthouse 4 Literacy and a trusted online reading and writing tutor.
I partner with families and schools to provide online reading and writing instruction that helps students build skills and confidence that last a lifetime.
For over 25 years, I’ve helped students in grades 1-12, including those with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other learning differences, become stronger, more confident readers and writers. Many families I work with tell me their child no longer dreads reading… and some even start looking forward to school again!

I work with families (including homeschoolers) and schools to provide personalized, online instruction that meets each student exactly where they are. I use a structured literacy approach informed by the Science of Reading, so you can trust that everything I do is grounded in solid research and best practices. Before we begin, I’ll get to know your child’s strengths and needs through informal assessments, and I’ll keep you in the loop with regular updates about their progress. If your child has an IEP, I’m happy to coordinate with their team, if requested.

I’ve been trained in Orton-Gillingham methodologies through the IDA-accredited Bowman OG Plus and Lexercise programs. I combine this expertise with engaging multi-sensory tools, games, and interactive strategies to make each session enjoyable and effective.

In addition to reading support, I also work with students to grow their skills in writing. Whether your child needs help organizing their ideas, building strong sentences, or editing their work with confidence, I’m here to guide them step by step. I’m a bit of a “word nerd” myself, and I love helping students find their voice.

Most of all, I believe that with the right support, every child can succeed. If you’re looking for a tutor who will truly care about your child and work alongside you to help them grow, I’d love to connect.
